Iranian New Year Celebration

The Iranian New Year (Nowruz) this year was on Monday the 20th March. This is a very important time for Iranians all around the world. The New Year lasts 13 days and ends with a picnic on the last day called Sizdah Bedar. The last Wednesday in the year before the New Year, Iranian Celebrate a day called Chaharshanbe Suri. Wilson and Dorothy once again opened their home to the Iranians on this day to celebrate Chaharshanbe Suri. There were around 100 people celebrating together. The Iranians themselves this year organised the celebration and paid for all the food. The event was co-ordinated by Dorothy M along with the Iranians. The rest of the Iranian Ministry Team supported them wherever was needed. This year they made it extra special by having Fireworks. This is a good event to invite Iranians who do not attend the Iranian Services and Bible studies. Nowruz was on the same day as the Iranian Service and was held in Windsor Presbyterian Church organised by the Iranians. The Iranians put a lot of work into this, as they wanted to share part of their culture with the people in Windsor Presbyterian Church.
